dubai for the weekend

we gave crystal the first week to adjust to the time change, it is brutal and takes about a week to feel normal, than we load a bag each jumped on a plane and 45 minutes later we were in dubai.  it is a must see place if you visit any part of the middle east and you can see most of it in a weekend.

7am flight

similar to southwest airlines...only $150 round trip each  on flydubai

our hotel on the walk

one of the perks of living out here is making friends quickly, my friend Gail has a friend Michael who lives in Dubai with his wife, so i contacted him and he helped us on finding a great hotel at a low price and on the walk, one of Dubai's hot spots.  at night people get in their cars and cruise the street that our hotel was on, it was very interesting, and made for great entertainment while walking from bar to bar.  some of the cars are bejeweled, not kidding they are covered in crystals, alot of Ferrari's,Lamborghini's, Porsche, and the cars actually yield to pedestrians.   i recommend this area for anyone, a hotel on the walk will cost you $150-450 a night.

the first adventure was to Atlantis Dubai just like the one in the Bahamas, and we spent the day at the waterslide park.  it is the place to be when its 110.  you don't have to carry your raft because they have a conveyor belt system that takes you to a pyramid which houses all the slides than you pick the one you want, take a thrill ride, end up in the lazy/rapid river, catch the conveyor belt again and repeat.  the only picture we have is from our hotel because the camera broke due to the humidity.

Atlantis in the back and yes those are camels on the beach
Day 2 - breakfast at Le Pain than off to at the Mall of the Emirates

lunch time

indoor skiing
time to relax by the pool after all that walking.

now it's time for dinner and when you get to leave Qatar the only thing you order anything with pork.  so we went to Rosso's in the Amwaj Rotana Hotel, a live band than it changed to a DJ with a great crowd.  we sat next to the kitchen, had a front row seat to the show, the table next to us complained that the food was not seasoned properly so we watched the fireworks fly in the kitchen when the waitress placed the plate back on the counter.

 stay tuned for day 3 & 4......
